What are "Ohana" groups?
Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family. Our Ohana groups are small gatherings that meet during the week to pray, worship, and study the Bible. One of the purposes of Ohana groups is to make the church more intimate.
How do I join a group?
Finding and joining an Ohana group is very simple. If you know someone at Honolulu Central SDA Church who is already in one, then ask to tag along to the next study. Otherwise, here are steps we recommend for getting involved.
-
Browse the Directory below
-
Find a group that meets your needs. Consider day of the week, time of day, and location as they pertain to you.
- Call up the host or facilitator.
The facilitator will be able to answer questions you have about the group. Confirm with the facilitator that they will be meeting at the location listed in the Directory when you plan attending. You may also call the host if you have any questions about the directions listed as well.
-
Attend the Ohana group. Ohana groups are always happy to have somebody new show up. If you feel nervous at first, don't worry, most people do. The facilitator of the group can help to make you feel more welcome.
-
Attend leadership training. On Mondays there is training available at 6pm - 7pm for leaders of ohana groups. It is an 8 week course to help facilitate areas that may need further attention as you grow in your ohana group.
